Watercolored March Magic

Image result for march quotes

Our Second Thursday Stampers are always a hopeful bunch and know that there are always blue skies after the grey, calm after the storm, and Spring after Winter.  Our March creations reflect that optimism with three beautiful new projects that will warm up the room when our stampers start to play with their scissors and paper!

We picked some freebie Designer Paper from the Sale-a-Bration promo to spotlight some colorful blooms

. . . water-colored a creative combo of Beautiful You and Mediterranean Moments

. . . and showcased a whimsical Easter Bunny with a fancy little popped up egg from Basket Bunch and a little help from Basket Builder Framelits.

All of our projects this month feature a variety of easy watercolor methods to make some March magic happen!

With rushing winds and gloomy skies The dark and stubborn Winter dies: Far-off, unseen, Spring faintly cries, Bidding her earliest child arise; March!

A Spotlight on Adult Coloring

The latest craze and benefits of adult coloring books, complete with claims of therapeutic potential to reduce anxiety and bring about mindfulness, has nothing on stampers!  We knew it all the time!    The Inside the Lines Designer Series Paper makes this card!  It is so much fun and is available in our Sale-a-Bration promo.

 Coloring Inside the Lines Card

We used our Watercolor Markers to spotlight a 1 3/8" square of pretty blooms and framed it in Basic BlackOur Thank You message in this easy and at the same time impressive card comes from Circle of Spring Photopolymer Stamp Set.   The creative possibilities are endless with Inside the Lines DSP, and the sense of well-being our stampers get from making their own version of this beautiful card is phenomenal!

Singing in the Spring Rain

Our brand new SU! Watercolor Pencils and a Watercolor Brush are the tools we used for our choice of watercolor technique in this sweet little framed piece.  Because we knew that Shimmery White is a good paper choice for watercolor techniques, we wanted to give our stampers a chance to try it.  Little did we know that in the right light it would make our scene look a bit like it is shrouded in a light mist.

 Beautiful Mediterranean Watercolor Card

The image of our girl just walking in the rain is from Beautiful You and was stamped on a 3" x 4 1/4" piece of Shimmery White Card Stock.  We made a mask to cover her up and stamped the street scene from Mediterranean Moments over the top.  Remove the mask and voila!  Our pretty girl is strolling right down the street.  The rest is easy.  We chose colors from our new set of Watercolor Pencils, and experimented with our Watercolor Brush.  We always encourage our stampers to make their cards their own and this card is the perfect project to give them free reign!  A theme of "as desired" encourages a delightful array of artistic outcomes.  Our frame is of Basic Black Card Stock with a narrow border layered on Falling In Love Designer Series Paper, then adhered to the card front of Sahara Sand.  Wow!  This could make us anxious for those April showers.

Solid Chocolate Bunny

Fancy card folds are fun and this one is no exception.  Our 8 1/2" x 8 1/2" piece of Whisper White Card Stock is transformed to a fun little Pop-Up Corner Card Easter Bunny card with a few folds and snips.  We owe the basic idea for this fold to SU! Demonstrator Meg Loven at Loven Stamps.  Check out her web page and video with instructions.  We followed her directions, then made a little tweek by cutting the inside corner on an angle--just because.

Solid Chocolate Easter Basket Bunch Card

Card Inside
Our card front design is created on a 4" x 4" piece of Whisper White Card Stock that is adhered to the front cover of the card.  We used designs from our In-Color '16-'18 Designer Series Paper Stack.  The front panels on the front are made from a 4" x 2 1/2" piece of the DSP.  Our small strip is 1 1/2" wide.  Whatever size strikes your fancy works!  The cute little Crumb Cake water colored bunny in the grass from Basket Bunch guards a water colored egg cut from the Basket Builder Framelits.  We watercolored the bunny with an H2O Brush lifting ink squished into the lid of our ink pad, and we tried our Blender Pen and Flirty Flamingo Ink for the egg, bunny ears and bowtie.  Our brand new Stitched Shapes Framelits provide a way to add interest and dimension--popped up with Dimensionals of course!  Then on to the inside where we stamped an Easter basket and message from Basket Bunch, this time with a cut out Chocolate Chip chocolate bunny stamped and cut out with a Basket Builder Framelit.  A coordinating piece of DSP from our stack provides the background for the Whisper White Card Stock Piece sporting our Happy Easter message from the Circle of Spring Stamp Set.  If all goes well then the last step is to use Tombo Glue to glue the card together!  Be careful!  Getting the right stuff on the right panel is the toughest part of this impressive card.

May All Your Chocolate Be Solid!
