April Folds

The month of April has arrived with absolutely no April Fooling around.  We are celebrating her arrival though, with April Folds for our fold in the form of three really fun fold cards for our fabulous fold of Second Thursday Stampers.

Collar a Bear and Give Him a Hug

Guess who couldn't stay away from the SU! Occasions Catalog?   Yeah, yeah, yeah . . . The Second Thursday Stampers are diving into yet another new stamp set, some party paper, and balloons and more balloons.  We just can't figure out how ©Stampin’ Up! keeps on getting better and better but we are certainly not complaining.  All of the excitement of our new stamps and accessories are showcased nicely with our super cute and very easy collar fold card.

Collared Bear Hug Card

Our newest acquisition, the Bear Hugs Stamp Set from our Occasions Catalogwas a Bare Necessity for our collection.  This card demanded the cuteness!  We stamped our bear on Whisper White Card Stock cut to the same size as our It's My Party Designer Series Paper (3 3/4" x 5").  To make the collar we just lined up the  DSP  on our trimmer with the long edge at 2 1/2", then cut in to the 2" mark.  Fold and tape and you have a fancy collar frame.  Then we pulled out our Balloon Celebration Stamp Set, Balloon Bouquet Punch, and our Baker's Twine Combo Pack and got creative.  The bouquet of colors copied the DSP coordinating colors, and we layered things up with Mint Macaron and Melon Mambo.  Many thanks to Jennifer Blomquist at Northwest Stamper for this really great card idea!

Pleat and Repleat

Remember pleated skirts and pleated shirts?  This pleat fold card is a perfect memory maker and so easy to do.  We pulled out a really pretty piece of our brand new pack of English Garden Designer Series Paper, cut a 4" x 11 1/2" piece, scored, cut an angle, and folded.  That's it!

Crazy Pleated Card

Our Scoring Tool is the secret to straight and perfectly spaced pleats.  We placed our DSP with the 11 1/2" edge at the top and carefully scored at 3", 4", 6", 7", 9", and 10".  To make the angle on the card, we used our Paper Trimmer, beginning at the three inch score and cut at an angle up to the top at about an inch from the edge.  The steeper the angle the more of the reverse side of this pretty paper shows.  A little bit of folding and that's all there is too it!  Using a little double sided tape to hold the pleats in place beats all those little stick pins we had to use when we were sewing our skirts back in the 50's!  You can fashion a little bit of ribbon over the pleats (we used Mossy Meadow 3/8" Striped Satin) and donning a few flowers on the front makes this a stunning card.  Our simple Mossy Meadow Inked greeting in the corner came from Friendly Phrases (retired) and the leaves (stamped off twice) are from Crazy About You.  Very appropriate, since we are crazy about this card!

Happiness Is A Screen Card

We have been meaning to make a screen fold card for the longest time.  Finally!  It is worth the wait.  Our Crumb Cake screen sets off the Marina Mist and Whisper White layers.  Any mother would be pleased with the Delightful Dozen greeting stamped in Marina Mist and surrounded by happy leaves and flowers.  Our Choose Happiness Stampset has such a wonderful variety of images that we didn't have to dig very far to find just the right stamps for this card.

Happiness Screen Card
We picked a greeting from the retired Delightful Dozen Stamp Set but gave our stampers the choice to use a greeting from Teeny Tiny Wishes.  Anything goes with this versatile card.  We started by scoring an 11" x 5 1/2" piece of Crumb Cake Card Stock at 2 3/4", 5 1/2", and 8 1/4".  Next we gussied up the top edge a bit with the Scallop Edge Punch which we also pulled from our retired drawer.  Couldn't help ourselves . . . we sure miss it!  The "legs" of the card were punched with our Decorative Label Punch.  We folded the first two panels together and punched, then repeated with the other two so we could get them as even as possible.  Then we stamped away with our Marina Mist and Crumb Cake Inks.  We put a little splash of Pear Pizzazz Ink on the leaves and shaded with Old Olive Ink to make our last panel stand out.  The fussy cut flower was finished off with a White Perfect Accent and we used a bit of 3/8" Marina Mist Striped Organdy for a special touch on the front panel.  This one's a keeper!
